Program Information:
The Nobbys SLSC ‘Little Rippaz’ program, first started in the 2014-15 Surf Life Saving season. Formally known as ‘Same Waves’ our Little Rippaz has continued to grow over the years and is now a major community program.
Our modified Nipper program is designed to support children (under 6’s upwards) with special needs particularly those who may find the beach a scary or not so enjoy-able experience.
Little Rippaz teaches surf skills, beach awareness and surf life saving activities in a fun, safe and inclusion environment. It also gives the kids an opportunity to make new friends and for parents/carers to network a little more… Ice-blocks at the end of the day aren’t too bad either!!!
The program generally runs on a Saturday from 9.45 to 11am for up to 20 children offering a range of activities including board riding, beach flags, beach sprints, sack races, sand castle building, parachute game, giant ball games, soccer and water activities.
Each child has two water safety people who are lifesavers and all children participating in the program receive a rash vest and nippers cap.
Cost:
Free – Thanks to our club sponsors and dedicated volunteers we are able to offer this program free of charge with the aim of giving every Aussie child, regardless of circumstance, the chance to enjoy the Aussie Nipper experience.
